Spring into Homeopathy! Sarah Trask, HD (RHom), DSHM
With a slow start to spring this year, each and every moment of sunshine and warmth I see the vitality in people spring to life. The same goes for the trees, blossoms, grass, animals, and bugs all bursting forth. What a beautiful time of year. There are also a few slightly annoying things coming to life, and I’d like to give some alternative options for both prevention as well as dealing with some of these pesky pains.
Homeopathy is of great use in the season of bees, mosquitoes, black flies, and ticks. Some are deathly allergic to bees, and others have the sweet smell that attracts mosquitos and no-see-ums. We’re all aware of the dangers of Lyme disease carried by the deer tick, or black legged tick. Besides dressing appropriately (bug shirts, long socks, light colored clothing), and the use of chemical pesticides, here are some homeopathic options:
Apis Millifica: Extraordinary results when used after bee or wasp stings or bug bites where there is stinging, swelling, redness, and/or shiny appearance of the skin. It’s use in cases of anaphylaxis is truly effective as well, so carry it alongside your epi pen!
Staphysagria: Use when there is a striking burning and redness to the skin. It’s use as a preventative for ticks and other pests is very effective so take preventatively before you head out into the tall grass!
Ledum Palustre: Great preventative for pesky critters (includes ticks, mosquitoes, black flies). Best taken 1 hr before exposure. This is also an excellent remedy in the prevention of tetanus.
All of the above remedies are most often used in a 30ch or 200ch potency. If you have any questions or would like to consult with a homeopath, feel free to contact me with your queries!
